Demolishing the Kitchen!

We are finally at the point of starting our extension. I am not sure I have mentioned it on here before but I am pretty sure everyone I know, knows about it!!

We are demolishing our current kitchen and building a single storey extension across the back of our house. Moving the kitchen in to what is the dining room and having a new space for a dining area/ living area/ office area.  We will also be joining the extension with our garage, in order to give us another way to get to the washing machine in the garage without having to go outside. In time, the Garage might also be converted further into a utility room and proper office space. We will also have new electrics and plumbing installed in to the garage for this reason.

Here is the house layout from when we moved in:

Here is our plan for the extension - as you can see we are gaining a lot more space!

As we are building across our bathroom window, we are going to have to rejig our bathroom and create a new window on the side of the house. This will also involve moving a drain to the side.

Here are some of the final photos I took before we starting taking down the kitchen.

Dave was pretty desperate to do take down some of it. He started off with a drill carefully taking things down but quickly realised it would be more fun with a big hammer!

Once the builders arrived, things came down even quicker. I think they had everything down within the hour. Dave was also allowed to control the digger..under careful supervision.

Things I will not miss about this kitchen:

The Sink

The Oven

The Windows

The Floor

The Lights

The Pine cupboards

...not of it really!

Now the fun begins!
