The Captain's Chair
It's been a while since we posted anything on here but after a few months off from decorating the house, we have taken some time to add a few extra bits to our living room. We still might add some more things on the walls later on but we are enjoying having some fresh plaster and paint without any holes!
I am going to whisk you all back in time for a moment to remind you of our living room journey - as you have probably all forgotten...and so have we!
Here we are back in November 2015 just after moving in:
Mid DESTRUCTION! AHH - February 2018, after finally plucking up the courage to cause havoc on the biggest room in the house:
August 2018 - Completing all the main things - flooring, heating, walls, basic decor.
And one year later...August 2019...Tadaa!
We had spoken about having a feature chair for years and often regretted not taking the chance to buy a matching one with our sofas when we bought them. However on an unplanned trip to Ikea to buy a ...Wok...the Ikea gods spoke to us and the inspiration came upon us. A grey 'Strandmon' chair (and a wok) was quickly squeezed into the back of our car to start its new life at Sampson HQ. Dave has not been out of it since. I am not complaining either as I get the big sofa all to myself. It's a win-win situation.
Even though we do buy some of our furniture from Ikea which could be seen as 'fast fashion' and not entirely environmentally friendly, I like to think that we manage to even it out with all our other bits of furniture. It has taken a several years to find all the right pieces but all of them combined come to a fraction of the price of Ikea furniture. I would strongly recommend looking in places such as the British Heart Foundation Furniture Store, second hand furniture shops and free buy/ sell pages on facebook. We have found some massive bargains...how can you say no to a sideboard for £1.00!
So there you go!
We are now starting the process of getting our kitchen/ diner extension designed. It is moving at the pace of an asthmatic snail but we are going in the right direction at least! We will update you when something interesting happens!
