Starting on the Living Room
With Dave away sunning it up South Korea, it was a good time to start on stripping the Living Room. What else would I want to be doing in the winter months?! I was slightly concerned that there would be layers and layers of wallpaper, as once again there is wallpaper on the ceiling as well as the walls. I wouldn't be suprised if there was a layer under the carpet the way this house is going!
Here is a reminder of what the room looks like before we caused havoc:
After clearing the room of all our lovely possesions, thankfully the majority of the room only had one layer of wallpaper. I was able to pull it off the walls without steaming it. I had to put a bit more effort in to the fireplace wall as that had lining paper underneath.
I have just started on the ceiling but it's pretty back breaking work so I am having to take lots of breaks!
Dave is now back from Korea and the room has strangley now turned in to a full on building site. I'm not sure if it was peeling glue left from the wallpaper or it's paint but Dave has managed to clean it off the first wall. It is quite tough to get off in places. He has done a good job.
We are working on getting some quotes to get the gas fire disconnected and some more efficient radiators installed. Hopefully we get get that sorted soon so that Dave can get his Bulldozer out on the fireplace!
