Living Room Ideas

The time has come to start planning our approach in the Living Room, after a few months off decorating we are now itching to get started on the next room.

The Living Room is the largest room in the house and of course the room that we spend most of our time in, so we have really got to make this our show stopper room! We are going to have to start by getting the old gas fire removed, and the brick work taken out, along with the 8ft radiator replaced with a more efficient one. Once again a whole heap of wallpaper removal and filling...and plastering.

But on to the more interesting bit...

This is the only room in the house, where we will be putting wallpaper back on. The room is large enough for it take a nice retro geometric pattern. This will be on the TV wall only. The rest of the walls will probably be a neutral colour - maybe light grey? But that also depends on our final wallpaper choice.

Here are some examples of the kind of wallpaper we are looking at. We are trying to keep a little mustard/ yellow in the colour scheme to bring in the colour of our sofas, so that it all fits together in the room.

We do plan on changing the layout of the room slightly. We want to bring both sofas either side of the TV and buy a smaller 1-2 person chair or just an arm chair to go in the middle, for Dave's beloved audio visual sweet spot for the TV. A couple of new pieces of furniture will be purchased, we would like another side cabinet to go at the other end of the room, along with a coffee table that fits better with the theme. We are still yet to really decide on what to do with the back part of the room, maybe a small round table would be nice for all those board games that we play...

Here is a little inspiration board to give an idea on our thoughts.

Now we just have to get on with all the boring hard work before we can start with all this fun stuff. Lets get cracking!
