Painting the bedroom!
After the long and never ending task of stripping the wallpaper off the walls in the bedroom, I could finally get to work on painting. After much discussion it was decided that we wanted to use coffee themed colours in the bedroom. As the bedroom is not the average rectangular shape, it did take a lot of deliberation as to how we were going to paint it. After a trip to B&Q we returned with a few tester pots and decided on our colours.
We used Intense Truffle in our previous house and decided that we would like to use it again on the two main walls. Using Natural Hessian for the ceiling and two smaller walls.
After scrubbing down the walls, I gave them a thin coat of cheap white paint to give it a fresh base to work on.
I then starting painting the walls with the light Natural Hessian colour. Starting in the corners with a brush and then rollering. It did take a couple of coats but I still only managed to used one tin of paint for all of it.
It then got to the scary bit of painting the much darker Intense Truffle. In the past when painting feature walls we have struggled with the paint bleeding under the masking tape, making it look messy. I didn't want to make that mistake this time, and so I googled the best way to do it. I taped up all the edges and painted over the edge of the masking tape with the lighter colour to create a seal, once it dried. Then theroetically I could paint with the darker colour and not worry about it getting under the tap....eeek
Thankfully, it seemed to work! I did have to touch up a little bit, but not half as much as in the past. It is very satisfying peeling the masking tape off and getting such a clean line.

(After)..... :)
I finished off by painting the yellowing wood work with a fresh coat of sparkly white glossy paint, which made a big difference to the room. We still need to sort out a new door for the access to the eaves but I am waiting for Mr DIY Dave to come back from Rio for that.
