Bye Bye Bedroom Wardrobe
The first thing I noticed in the bedroom on our first viewing of the house was the fitted wardrobes. My first decision about what work would need doing to the house came roughly 5 seconds later. The wardrobes have to go. That was about 10 months ago. I've woke up every morning for the past 7 months and the first thing I have seen are those wardrobes, filling me with anger.
Finally, We've started decorating and first on the hit list was the wardrobes. After much deliberation and compromise, we came up with a plan. We will leave the two outer cupboards in place, removing the middle 4. The outer cupboards have shelves in them currently, we will convert them to have a clothes rail for all of Louise's dresses and my shirt. Replacing the four middle cupboards with some drawers and it goes without saying ... a TV.

Uncovered what I assume (hope) to be the original wallpaper ....

Next job was to cut the clothes pole that did run across the four middle cupboards into two smaller pieces to user in the two outer cupboards. Fairly simple task, made some sparks. One thing I hadn't anticipated, the two cross beams I was to attach the poles to were not the at the same height. So when the pole was fitted, it was on a slant. My solution ... bodge it.
The shelf that ran across all 6 cupboards was cut down and reinstalled in the outer two cupboards.
The last dilemma of the weekend was what to do with the inside edge of both outer cupboards. Currently they do not have sides as they used to back onto another cupboard, so we've had to retro fit a side onto the cupboard. This was a challenging tasking because of the complicated shape of the wall and the cross beams. The cross beams/skirting board weren't too much of a problem, I simply measured them and make a little template out of MDF.
Measured it all out and used the templates to add them all onto a rough sketch and a right big bit of MDF.
6 Hours later and a lot of trial and error later .....
It probably didn't need to take 6 hours but I desperately didn't want to over cut it. It isn't quite flush yet, once it is screwed onto the frame, the gaps can be filled in and there is a couple of mil of edge on the front that will need to be sanded down. Other side will have to be done at a later date!
